Another successful women’s event went off at Footloose sports this monday. Our free Trolley ride to the trails and skill improvement clinics on the way back were universally praised buy all participants. “I knew the event was going to be a success when I heard all the girls cat call a group of unsuspecting firemen on the way out of the footloose parking lot,” said Footloose owner Tony Colasardo. The wine and cheese apré party was, shall we say, animated as well. Check out the pictures for a view of all the girls and ride leaders getting ready for the trolley ride.

Bikes, Bräts, and Brake Bleeds: The Mammoth Mountain bike community gets together.

July 15th, 2008

On July 9th Footloose Sports organized a gathering of the mountain bike tribe for a Bratwurst barbecue on the front deck. Attendees were treated to free food, drinks and a raffle for some amazing prizes. Fun and a bit of advocacy were had buy all. A few highlights of the event were:Mark Hendrickson’s animated run down of the new features to be found at the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park this season.Mark’s presentations are always interesting to listen to with good stories and extreme body language. Look out for the new Twilight Zone trail. Oh…and Don’t Cut Trails!!!–The two representatives of IMBA gave great arguments regarding the need for a collective voice among the mountain bikers of Mammoth. With such a strong reputation for mountain bike racing and riding it should be easy to organize a group of like mind dirt enthusiasts. Without a collective of riders it’s way harder to lobby the local politicians for new trails and other bike related amenities.–John Armstrong offered his considerable experience with staring the robust Eastside Velo Road Bike Club to anyone brave enough to tackle the more individualistic mountain bikers. His experience and his spot on the board of Mammoth Trails should be enough resources to help anybody form an organization.–A big thank you goes out to all who spoke at the event and everyone who attended. Footloose can’t wait to throw another barbie next year.

Corty and John Armstrong listining to Silver talk about trail acess.

Silver getting animated.

Silver talking and Mark Hendrickson in the blue and black jersey.

John Armstrong, from Eastside Velo, offering his services to anyone who wants to start a club.

Yes we gave all the stuff in the boxes away.

May 12th, 2008

It’s time for the Footloose Women’s Bike Night event once again. Come and join the festivities on Wednesday the 14th at 6. Last years event was a fun mixture of clinics, give aways, and wine drinking that kicked off the bike season with a bang. This year we planed the night to coincide with the Eastside Velo sponsored Pamper Pedal ride on Saturday. Both evens are open to riders of all ages and levels of experience. Come on out! Both events should be a rollicking good time for all the ladies.

Night of Lights!!

January 10th, 2008

After a really mixed day here in town – sun in the morning, a warm up and rain midday, the skies are supposed to clear for the weekend. I would definitely plan on coming up this weekend – expect a fair amount of crowds now that the snow has finally arrived and the sun is out. A lot of people left early last week because of the storm and an anxious to make up for lost time. Footloose, Wave Rave and Mammoth Mtn are hosting the World Freeride Tour – riders that have pre-qualified can pick up their registration packets at Footloose starting Sunday at noon until 10 pm. Anyone interested in watching the event should show up at Chair 14 by 10am. You can watch the show form the sundeck, listen to some great music and watch some world class skiers and riders. Also, don’t forget the return of the Night of Lights at Canyon Lodge on Saturday night at 5pm. This event has been sorely missed in Mammoth over the last few years and we are stoked to see it return.
