FILLED - Experienced Bike Mechanic

Footloose Sports is searching for an experienced full-time Bicycle Mechanic. This individual will work in our in-house mechanic’s bay performing repairs and bike builds on all types of bicycles and assist on the sales floor and outdoor bicycle rental area as needed. We are searching for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and good customer service skills.

Starting Hourly Pay - $20+ dependent on experience

Essential duties, responsibilities, and functions:

  • Re-cables most shift and brake systems

  • Understands hydraulic brakes systems, bleeds, and pad replacement

  • Knows how to true a wheel both radially and laterally and check dish in a timely fashion

  • Performs a precision adjustment on cup/ball hubs

  • Adjusts both threadless and threaded headsets. Removes and installs cartridge bottom brackets

  • Uses correct tools properly to perform work, including torque wrenches

  • Diagnoses bad bearings, contaminated shift cable and housing, and worn brake pads

  • Greets and assists all Footloose customers

  • Provides friendly and accurate information regarding bicycle products, sales, and services

  • Completes all required paperwork legibly and accurately

  • Performs quality, accurate work on all systems and on all types of bicycles

  • Participates in all opening and closing duties

  • Stocks merchandise and shop supplies

  • Performs general housekeeping duties

  • Assists all other Footloose departments when needed

  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned

Education, experience and abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Previous bicycle mechanic experience required

  • Knowledge of all aspects of bicycle maintenance and repair

  • Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skill with the ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues

  • Ability to read service and repair manuals

  • Ability to read work orders

  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion

  • Working knowledge of electronic shift systems

  • Ability to meet all requirements for Bicycle Mechanic Level I and expected to perform at a higher level of quality and quantity

Other requirements include:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and regularly lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to work with your hands

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights and holidays

  • Must be dependable and punctual

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must have reliable transportation
