OPEN - Softgoods Retail Manager

Footloose Sports is searching for an Softgoods Retail Manager. This individual is responsible for completing complex tasks, training employees, and acting on behalf of the Retail Supervisor in his or her absence. This individual will maintain the store philosophy and ensure exemplary service is provided to Footloose customers.

Starting Hourly Pay - $19+ DOE

Essential duties, responsibilities, and functions:

• Store appearance

  • Works to ensure the store is clean and products are fully stocked

  • Helps with end-of-season inventories and store changeovers

  • Keeps back stock of retail products organized (and advises inventory team of any products needing to be re-ordered)

  • Participates in all opening/closing duties:

    • Bringing rental bikes in and out of the store

    • Cleaning bathrooms

    • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming

    • Verifying registers

    • Cleaning counters

    • Straightening up retail and bike shop clothing and fixtures

• Employees

  • Assists with training new employees in the Retail Department when needed

  • Works closely with buyers to move products and give feedback

  • Understands all retail procedures including special orders, warranties, paperwork, etc.

  • Sets the example for Retail employees by being consistent with paperwork, procedures, policies, etc.

• Customer service

  • Sets clear performance standards for customer service processes

  • Has knowledge of local hiking trails and ski trails in Mammoth and can suggest appropriate options for customers based on their needs

• Additional

  • Maintains open lines of communication with Retail Supervisor

  • Continuously learns about outdoor industries as they grow and change

  • Takes and implements constructive feedback

• Performs other duties as needed or assigned

Education, experience and abilities:

• 2 years of previous retail and/or industry experience

• Strong and effective leadership skills with the ability to motivate others

• Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable working with people

• Proficient in the POS system and EZ Rent system

• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Excellent active listening skills

• Excellent sales and customer service skills

• Team-oriented

• Knowledge of fabrics, technology, and features of softgoods

• Ability to anticipate customers’ needs

• Ability to recommend merchandise to customers

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

• Ability to collaborate well with the store managers

• Ability to multi-task

Physical requirements:

• Must be able to stand for prolonged hours at a time

• Must be able to lift at least 25-40 pounds

• Must have a valid driver’s license

• Must have reliable transportation
